WFC Rangers Covid-19 Guidelines
Good Morning Rangers Families,
We are looking forward to a return to training for our club. Our ultimate goal is to protect all the players and families in our club but also the community as a whole. We are working with, and listening to, all guidance from the Governor’s office, WSYSA, and the Whatcom County Department of Health. We are living in unprecedented times and nothing like this has ever been planned before, but we will do everything we can to ensure our players are safe and protected. Our county has not been released to phase 2 of the governors plan yet but we will be ready when it does.
We have created the list of guidelines below which we are expecting everyone in our club to follow. We are partnering with you to make sure we all do our parts to be safe and protect each other. While we work in phase 2 of the governor’s plan, training will look a little different, but our coaches will do their best to provide quality experiences for our players while ensuring a safe environment.
WFC Rangers Covid-19 Guidelines
Sickness
If you are sick please stay home. This applies to everyone: players, coaches, and parents. If you have been sick, stay home for 14 days after recovery. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, body/muscle aches, diarrhea, sore throat, new headache, and loss of taste or smell. Please inform your coach if you are or have recently been sick.
Masks and Facial Coverings
All WFC Rangers coaches will wear cloth masks during training sessions. Players should wear cloth masks before and after each training session when moving between the car and field. Use of facial coverings during exercise and drills is optional for players.
Hand Sanitizer
All players should have hand sanitizer in their soccer bags. Players need to use hand sanitizer before/after practice and avoid touching their faces during practice. They should also wash their hands thoroughly at home before and after training.
Carpooling/Drop off/Pick up
Please avoid carpooling if possible and make sure your child is wearing a face mask in the car if this cannot be avoided. Drop-off/pick-up: parents need to remain in the car for drop-off and pick-up. All parents must remain 6 feet apart from those outside their household.
Training
We will train in small groups of 5 players as WSYSA guidelines instruct. Coaches will work with the small groups and maintain social distancing. Due to time and space constraints, teams will be divided into 45 minute blocks.
15 Minutes between Sessions
We will observe a 15-minute break between training sessions to transition the groups in and out. Where possible, teams will approach (enter and exit) the training field from separate directions, and players will remain in their cars and away from the field until after the 15-minute break between sessions has concluded. Coaches and teams will receive specific instructions for which area of the field they will be working as a small group.
No Gathering, No Delay
In order for us to facilitate our plan properly, players need to avoid social gatherings before and after practice to maintain appropriate social distancing of 6 feet and to facilitate rapid turnaround between sessions.
Players Equipment
Ensure all equipment, cleats, ball, shin guards etc.…are sanitized before and after every training. Players will bring their own ball to training. There is no sharing of personal equipment, and players will not touch or share training equipment. The coach is the only person to handle cones, etc.
Restroom Use
Please make sure players use the restroom at home before leaving for practice. If using the restroom at P66, we ask you to do so while observing social distancing. As you enter the restroom, check and make sure there are no groups gathered inside and that there is enough space to stay 6 feet apart. Use hand sanitizer after using the restroom.
***We understand these are unusual and unprecedented times for the world. If you have any concerns about this plan or you don’t feel comfortable returning to training yet, please just let us know. We care about your well-being and we will do everything we can to ensure we listen to your concerns.***
Thank you in advance for your diligence and adherence to our guidelines to make sure everyone in Whatcom County remains safe. A full list of the WSYSA guidelines is linked below and we would like you to read them. We will send you the schedule for training start days and times as soon as we get clearance from the governor and WSYSA.
Thank you and we can’t wait to see our players at the field training.
